ABOUT JONAS WOOD
Jonas Wood was born in Boston, and lives and works in Los Angeles. Wood combines modernist abstraction with pop figuration in his densely patterned paintings of vernacular culture. The artist is known for his compositions of private spaces and domestic interiors. Like David Hockney’s flat, large-scale collages of Polaroid prints, Wood takes multi-angle photographs of his subjects and then cuts and pastes the images together to produce his fractured paintings. He has had solo exhibitions at venues that include Lever House, New York; Anton Kern Gallery, New York; David Kordansky Gallery, Los Angeles; Patrick de Brock, Belgium; and Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. Notable group exhibitions include UNTITLED & Zach Feuer Gallery, New York; the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis; Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York; and Karma International, Zurich.
